Where does golden milk come from?

The story of the golden milk

The golden milk comes from an Indian form of healing art, Ayurveda. This special kind of medicine is about bringing body, mind and soul into a better balance in order to lead a healthier and better life. Translated, Ayurveda means "the knowledge (Veda) of life (Ayus)". Behind this is the goal of the Indian art of healing: to maintain people's health and to heal the sick.

In 1976, Ayurveda was officially recognised as "traditional medicine" by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Ayurvedic teachings are particularly widespread in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Ayurveda is also taught scientifically there. In India, there is even an officially recognised course of study for Ayurvedic medicine, which is completed with the "Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery". In recent years, the art has also come to Europe and the USA, where it is appreciated for its golden milk.

The term body does not only refer to the human body, but also to animal or plant bodies. The teaching says that every body consists of these five basic building blocks. The five sensory perceptions are found in the human body. Each of the elements is found in different intensity in people. This leads to a pronounced individuality of the bodies. Each individual is special and equipped with different strengths or weaknesses.

Functions and characteristics of the three doshas

1. vata

Life energy fed from air and space. In the body it regulates all activities, including breathing, the nervous system and movement. When balanced, it promotes creativity and flexibility. When Vata is in balance, it provides flexibility and creativity. When it is imbalanced, it can mean nervousness, insomnia and digestive problems.

1. pitta

Energy of heating from fire and water. Pitta regulates all biochemical processes in the organism, metabolism and digestion. If Pitta is in balance, it provides understanding and the ability to learn. If Pitta is too intense, it leads to anger, digestive problems and inflammation.

1. kapha

Cohesive energy from the elements of water and earth. Kapha focuses on the structural make-up of the body, such as joints. However, not only physically, but also mentally. If Kapha is in balance, it provides peace and love. If it is imbalanced, it can cause inertia and obesity.

These three types can occur in different combinations and thus shape the characteristic of a body individually. The intensity of the individual functions in connection with the particular combination results in innumerable possibilities or innumerable combinations. When all three doshas function in harmony with each other, one speaks of the Tridosha constitution. The balanced doshas are then reflected in a particularly balanced personality in which none of the doshas is particularly prominent.

Golden milk and its effect

The superfood turmeric has been part of traditional Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. The substance curcumin contained in the root is a natural antioxidant. Among other things, it is said to prevent premature skin ageing. Furthermore, turmeric has an anti-inflammatory and digestive effect. It helps your body to rid itself of toxins and supports your metabolism. This is supported by the ginger tuber and the black pepper, which among other things promotes the release of curcumin. Turmeric latte is even credited with alleviating or even preventing ailments caused by chronic inflammation such as osteoarthritis, heart disease and even Alzheimer's disease. Golden milk is also said to have a mentally stimulating effect, which is why it is often drunk in the morning as a natural coffee alternative or in the evening to lower stress levels after a long day.

What is in the golden milk?

Due to the intense ingredients, the taste of golden milk often takes some getting used to. The classic golden milk is therefore often celebrated with additional ingredients. This is also the case with our Golden Soul Powder.
